Accessories for a Vacuum Food Sealer

As you know you can’t use the Seal a Meal Vacuum Food Sealer unless you have the accessories to go with it. There are different kinds of accessories available based on the how you plan to store or freeze your food. There are Foodsaver Quart BagsFoodSaver Rolls and a variety of FoodSaver Containers. The bags also come in pint and gallon sizes.

I personally have always used the rolls so I can make my own size of bags to store my freezer food. The rolls come in 2 sizes 8"and 11"wide. I keep both on hand at all times. I make the bag or bags based on what I’m planning to freeze at the moment. I always make the bags larger so they can be reused again & again. After the first time of using the bag, I wash it with hot soap & water, rinse it & let it dry very well before storing it. I write on the portion of the bag that is outside of the sealed area with the name of the contents & date so I know how long I have had it in the freezer. When opening the bag, I cut just below the sealed line & it removes the written label. The next time I use the bag & after sealing it, I write the name of the contents & date again & it is never written on the body of the bag.

The containerscome in variety of sizes. I used these to store products like macaroni, spaghetti, powdered milk, cornmeal, and any other dry ingredients as shown in the picture that doesn’t need to be refrigerated or frozen. One thing about these containers is that you can remove some of the food you have stored in it & reseal it again & the food will stay fresh.
